The Job Description
Sales Engineer reports to Manager
The overall responsibilities are:
Generate enquiries and follow up on existing customers
Do the initial groundwork for discussions on sales
Gain thorough product knowledge
Responsible for achieving sales target set by management
Present the product and sell
Visit new customers and prospect for new business
Negotiating the terms of an agreement and closing sales
Has to travel and be on the move
Liaising with principals to check on the progress of existing orders
Checking quantities of goods on display and in stock
Recording sales and order information and sending copies to the sales coordinator
Reporting back to product / senior managers
Maintaining case files and paperwork with admin support
Work well in a team
Work within parameters set by the Company
Representing the organization at trade exhibitions, events and demonstrations
Maintaining detailed knowledge of the company’s products or services
Keeping abreast of what competitors are doing
Key Result Areas
Increasing sales of Laser cutting Machine and related products in designated regions
Identification of new business opportunities
Maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers via meetings, telephone calls and emails
Prospecting for new customers – develop the customer base
Acting as a contact between a company and its existing and potential markets;
Gathering market and customer information;
Gaining a clear understanding of customers' businesses and requirements;
Making accurate, rapid cost calculations, and providing customers with quotations – with support of management
Negotiating variations in price, delivery and specifications with managers
Reviewing own sales performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets
Feeding future buying trends back to employers.
